Aztec Soccer Earns Post-Season Awards

Four Pima soccer players have been awarded All-America status by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).

Kaylen Jackson was nominated as First-Team All-American by the NJCAA and Second-Team by the NSCAA.  Denise Gordon was nominated as a First-Team member by the NSCAA, while Kelcee Newell earned a Second-Team placement on the NSCAA list.

Fernando Gauna was the only men’s soccer player to receive All-America status as he was nominated as a Second-Team member on the NJCAA’s list.

Rashaad Stokelin National Player of the Week

Pima basketball player Rashaad Stokelin has been named the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference (ACCAC) and National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), Division II Player of the Week for the week ending Dec. 9th. This is the Aztec’s first honor of the year for men’s basketball.

The 6’1” sophomore guard from Rochester, New York recorded 24 points and seven rebounds in a 103-85 loss to Mesa CC on Dec. 5th and followed that game up with a triple-double on Saturday in an overtime, 92-94 loss to Glendale CC. Stokelin scored 14 points, pulled down 11 boards and dished out 11 assists in the Saturday evening game.
