Women’s Basketball Team gets preseason honors

The Women’s Basketball Team has received national preseason recognition.

Pima, which won third place in the 2009 NJCAA National Tournament, is ranked No. 3 in the NJCAA preseason poll. Meanwhile, sophomores Abyee Maracigan, (Flowing Wells HS, Tucson, AZ) and Tia Morrison, (Copper Canyon HS, Phoenix, AZ) were named to the NJCAA Pre-Season, 1st Team All-American.

In 2008-09, Maracigan led the Aztecs in minutes (33.3), assists (182) and steals (79) and was second second on the team in scoring (13.3 per game), rebounds (8.1 per game) and blocked shots (40 per game).

In 2008-09, Morrison led the team in scoring (16.7 per game), shooting percentage (.625 per game), rebounds (11.1 per game) and blocks (46 per game). 

The Aztecs begins the regular season on Nov. 6 against the College of Eastern Utah in Cedar City, Utah. Pima’s first home game is at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 13 against Odessa (Texas) College. All home games are at Aztec Gym on West Campus, 2202 W. Anklam Road.
