March 8 is Raytheon Scholars application deadline

February 11, 2010

If you have a knack for math and science, consider applying to the College’s Raytheon Scholars Program.

Each year, the program – a partnership of Raytheon Missile Systems, The University of Arizona and PCC – selects up to 10 high school graduates or first-year Pima students who are interested in careers in engineering, math and science. Upon acceptance into the program, students secure an internship with Raytheon.

Raytheon Scholars who meet all eligibility criteria throughout the program ultimately can expect a full-time job at Raytheon’s Tucson facility. Other program benefits include:

  • Full-time tuition waivers to attend PCC (tuition and fees) and UA (tuition) for all charges not covered by federal financial aid
  • An internship with Raytheon upon selection as a Scholar
  • Raytheon service credit earned prior to full-time employment

To be eligible for the Raytheon Scholars Program, a student must:

  • Be a high school graduate or General Education Development (GED) Certificate recipient by June 2010
  • Meet Raytheon employment criteria (be a United States citizen who is at least 18 years old)
  • Have a minimum cumulative high school and/or Pima grade point average of 3.0
  • Achieve eligible scores on PCC Assessment Tests and place into CALC1 at Pima
  • Qualify for in-state tuition

The application deadline is March 8, 2010. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply. Children of current Raytheon parents are not eligible.
