Digital Arts Students Earn Prestigious Awards

TUCSON, AZ – Pima Community College’s Digital Arts students won more gold and silver awards than any other school in the competition during the American Advertising Federation Tucson Chapter’s ADDY awards on Feb. 20. PCC students outdid students in the four-year programs at the Art Center, the Tucson Art Institute and the University of Arizona.

The PCC winners were:

  • Student Best of Show Award: Hadassah Cruz
  • Gold ADDY: Hadassah Cruz for her illustration “Smooth Criminal”
  • Gold ADDY: Sara Brooks for her illustration “Robot Girl”
  • Gold ADDY: Fabian Corona Hernandez for his 3D animated short feature, “Waiting”
  • (Two) Silver ADDYs:  Jenny Colaleo for her illustration “Autumn Geisha” and a CD cover for “Infernal Racket”
  • Silver ADDY: Adam Humiecki for his animated 2D short feature “Chop!”
  • Bronze ADDY: Chapo Sanchez for his illustration “Juxtapose Cover”
  • Stickell Internship and American Advertising Federation $1,000 Scholarship: Michelle Thayer

Two PCC student films – “Todas Almas” directed by Jesse Powell and “Estaban’s Ride” by Grant Hunker – were accepted into the Arizona International Film Festival. The festival takes place through April 25 in theaters throughout Tucson.
