PCC Chancellor Named to Board of Global Testing Organization

Tucson, AZ – Pima Community College Chancellor Dr. Roy Flores has been named to the Board of Trustees of Educational Testing Service (ETS), a global educational testing and assessment organization.

The 18-member Board of Trustees is responsible for the management and fiscal stewardship of ETS, a private non-profit organization that annually develops, administers and scores more than 50 million tests in over 180 countries. Among its exams are the Graduate Record Examinations (GRE), the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), and the Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC), as well as the Praxis Series of assessments of prospective teachers.

Trustees are elected for three-year terms and are eligible to serve two additional consecutive three-year terms. They have backgrounds in business and education.

Dr. Flores has been chancellor of PCC since 2003. In addition to ETS, Dr. Flores serves on the boards of two other national higher-education organizations: the Community College Baccalaureate Association, and the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities. Locally, he is a member of the Southern Arizona Leadership Council, and serves on the boards of the University of Arizona’s School of Dance and Tucson Regional Economic Opportunities Inc.

Dr. Flores earned a Ph.D. in economics from Iowa State University and has served as an economic advisor in the U.S. Department of State.

Founded in 1947, ETS serves individuals, educational institutions and government agencies by providing customized solutions for teacher certification, English language learning, and elementary, secondary and postsecondary education, as well as conducting education research, analysis and policy studies.
