New bookstore credit process will be ready for fall semester

May 11, 2012

A new process for bookstore vouchers will go live in time for fall semester.  This online process will make it more convenient for most students receiving financial aid, and for students with a PCC Veterans ID numbers, to purchase their books and supplies.

The new process allows qualified financial aid and veterans benefit students to go directly to the bookstore, show their PCC Student ID card, and purchase books and materials. There is no need to obtain a Book Loan Form at the Student Services Center.

Please be aware that the eligibility for financial aid recipients is different from VA-eligible students.

  • VA STUDENTS: To be eligible for the bookstore credit, VA students must have a veteran ID number and should check with Student Services staff before going to a bookstore.  VA students are eligible for up to $50 per credit-based on their current registration.  For example, a VA student registered for six credits in fall 2012 would be eligible for $300 in bookstore credit.  Eligibility for VA students ends 45 days after the beginning of the regular semester. VA students will be notified about the bookstore credit process through their Pima email account and the information will be added to the MyPima Vet tab.
  • FINANCIAL AID STUDENTS: Financial aid students are eligible if they have been awarded financial aid but it has not been released to their student account. The funds available to purchase books/supplies are the difference between the financial aid awarded and the total tuition and fees charges for the term. Eligibility ends when the term’s financial aid funds are released to the student’s account.

This new process will be available for the purchase of fall semester books.  If you are a financial aid or VA-eligible student, you will be reminded about the new bookstore credit process in July through your Pima email account. Information will also be posted on the MyPima Vet tab and MyPima Financial Aid tab.

Note:  This revised process was announced earlier with a start date in May.  However, unexpected circumstances have postponed the launch until sometime in July 2012.
