We Roared into the Twenties:  Women, Advertising and Shifting Image in the 1920s

Enjoy a thought-provoking presentation by Kimlisa Salazar, History Faculty, at PCC’s Speakers’ Series.  Salazar will discuss the shifting social image of women in 1920s America.  The lecture will cover the impact of modernization, the rise of advertising, Hollywood and mass media on young women as the country came out of World War I.  She also will discuss the rise of flappers, changing social roles and some of the most prominent women of that era.

Salazar has been a faculty member in Pima’s History Department since 2004 and was a Pima Outstanding Faculty of the Year awardee in 2011.  She has a background in modern cultural U.S. and colonial Latin American History.  She is co-founder of the College’s annual Women’s History through Fashion runway show and has taught U.S. and Latin American History since 1995.
