PCC Faculty Speakers’ Series

Pima Community College will kick off the 2013 Speakers’ Series at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 12, with Dr. Ngovo’s presentation, “Historical Connections between the United States and Liberia.”
The series, now in its third year, is aimed at showcasing the expertise and accomplishments of PCC’s faculty to the community.

Dr. Ngovo, Reading faculty, has been with Pima for 16 years, and has published several articles in Reading and English. He has taught at Cuttington University, University of Liberia and the Zorzor Rural Teacher Training Institute in Liberia. He holds a B.S. in English Education from Cuttington University in Liberia, a M.S. from the State University of New York at Alba, a Master’s Degree in American Literature and Reading Education and a doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction from Northern Illinois University, Dekalb, IL.
The Speakers’ Series is sponsored by the Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor of the College, Dr. Jerry Migler, along with PCC Faculty Senate.
The 2013 Speakers’ Series schedule and topics are:
- February 12: “Historical Connections between the United States and Liberia,” by Dr. Bernard Ngovo, Reading faculty
- March 5: “Ars Moriendi, Ars Vivendi: The Art of Death, the Art of Life,” by Dr. Dianna Repp, Anthropology faculty
- April 2: “Knowing is as Knowing Does,” by Dr. Jerry Gill, Humanities faculty
- October 1: “Chinese Grocery Store: From Chorizo to Saladito,” by Barry Infuso, Culinary Arts faculty
- November 5: “Whales of Baja,” by Kathryn (Katie) Iverson, Biology faculty
- December 3: “Climate Change at Arctic’s Edge,” by Dr. Silvia Kolchens, Chemistry faculty
