Raytheon Scholars Program
Partnering for Student Success
In an effort to recruit and retain a diverse workforce, Raytheon Missile Systems has partnered with Pima Community College and the University of Arizona to identify talented local scholars who are interested in continuing to study and work in the Tucson community. Up to ten (10) high school graduates who are interested in careers in engineering will be selected each year.
Students who have excelled in math and science are especially encouraged to consider careers with Raytheon. Those who are accepted as Raytheon Scholars will join the company upon entering the program. Providing all eligibility criteria are met throughout the program, these students can look forward to full-time careers with Raytheon upon receipt of their Bachelor's degrees.
Student Benefits
Students who are accepted as Raytheon Scholars and who maintain eligibility throughout the program will:
- Receive full-time scholarships to attend PCC (tuition and fees) and the UA (tuition) for all charges not covered by federal financial aid
- Begin employment with Raytheon upon acceptance as a Scholar
- Earn Raytheon service credit prior to full-time employment
- Have the opportunity to embark on a lucrative career in their home community, Tucson
- Receive recognition as an elite Tucson scholar
Eligibility
Students will be eligible to apply for the Raytheon Scholars Program if they meet the following criteria:
- Be a high school graduate or GED recipient by June 2008
- Be a United States citizen and Pima County resident
- Have a minimum high school and/or Pima GPA of 3.0
- Achieve eligible scores on PCC Assessment Tests
- Meet Raytheon employment criteria
- Qualify for in-state tuition
Application Process
Applications for the 2009/2010 academic year will be available at the beginning of the Spring 2009 semester.
Women and minorities are encouraged to apply. Children of current Raytheon parents are not eligible for participation in this program.
