Pima Community College puts you in charge of your education. Our advisors are trained to help you get started and to help keep you on track to achieve your academic and professional goals.
Getting Started with Academic Advising
All students should meet with an advisor at least once each semester. Each campus has a team of advisors ready to guide you through procedures for classes, majors, unofficial degree checks and transferring.
To get started, explore Pima's programs & courses and decide which course of study is right for you.
If you'd like to meet with an advisor, you can visit the Student Services Center on any campus or email your question through contact an advisor.
Understanding Certificates, Associate, and Bachelor's Degrees
Certificates provide students with the technical knowledge, skills, and experience needed to qualify for work in specific career fields.
Associate degrees at Pima typically take two years to complete and may lead to direct employment or university transfer.
Pima does not offer bachelor’s degrees. However, we can help you plan a course of study that will allow you to complete your first two years of study here and then seamlessly transfer to one of our partner universities or to other four-year institutions across the country.
Building your Class Schedule
Academic Advisors can help you choose the classes that you need to complete your chosen program, register for required classes, and make changes as the semester progresses. Advisors can also provide individualized information about the effects of adding, dropping or withdrawing from classes on your financial aid, student status, athletic eligibility and more.
You can enroll in a maximum of 18 credit hours the fall and spring semesters and 12 credit hours in the summer sessions. It is a good idea to meet with an advisor to discuss the appropriate maximum credits per semester for your individual circumstances. Credits or coursework taken outside the College should be taken into consideration.
Preparing to Transfer
Pima is committed to preparing students for their future and providing them the help they need to transfer from Pima.
